Refreshed and Recharged
MSRP: $50

Online Rating: (4.5/10)

It’s been a few years since Stanley Tools introduced its innovative line of tripod flashlights. To keep the years from dimming the product line, Stanley literally recharged the latest model.

The new model 95-148 Rechargeable Tripod Flashlight ($50) has the same versatile features as the original – a folding tripod base, a rotating head, a weather-resistant housing and variable power settings. However, it now has a brighter beam and built-in rechargeable batteries. A free-standing/wall-mounted charging base provides a full charge in eight hours or less. When fully charged, the flashlight runs for four hours. Of course, if you store the flashlight in its charging stand, it will always be ready to go in an emergency.

I found that the flashlight’s new 3-watt LED projected a much brighter beam than the original Tripod model I tested, making it suitable for indoor or outdoor use. The low power setting extends the battery life and is more than bright enough for most indoor uses, such as working on plumbing under a sink. Stanley has made the unit almost bulletproof. In addition to being weather resistant, the lens is shatter resistant. Stanley Tools,  www.stanleytools.com

PROS
light on a tripod is a great idea. Can be very useful when you need both hands

CONS
I did not like the led output. I felt that there was not enough light and I much prefer the older bulb type lighting. I now use the light only in emergencies and have gone back to my older flashlights

OVERALL
When I first saw this product I thought to myself what a great idea. A light on a tripod. I cannot tell you how this particular model is but I felt that its predecessor (the standard battery) tripod light was under powered and did not provide sufficient light.

PROS
I purchased the first style. Like the idea of the hands free.

CONS
Was not impressed by the lighting. The tri-pod legs easy to break the spring loading section. One week after purchase. Dropped for table top. Broke, can't re-close the legs.

OVERALL
Most likely would not purchase another.
